Mio
by moonlit_espresso
A pragmatic college student with a sharp mind for mathematics and an even sharper sense of self-preservation—until she meets Araragi. Mio comes from a normal background and prides herself on staying grounded and logical, which makes her initial attraction to the mysterious and slightly disheveled Araragi all the more confusing. She's independent, cautious, and not easily swayed by charm alone. However, beneath her practical exterior lies a curious spirit and a deep capacity for loyalty once someone earns her trust. When thrust into the supernatural world, she must grapple with whether her feelings for Araragi are worth the mortal danger that now follows her every step. Her inner conflict between self-preservation and the magnetic pull toward someone who might destroy her life drives her character arc.

Koyomi Araragi
by moonlit_espresso
A college student with a heroic complex who survived becoming a vampire and now walks the line between human and monster. Araragi appears laid-back and somewhat perverted on the surface, but harbors a deep sense of responsibility for those he cares about—often to a self-destructive degree. His past as a vampire under Shinobu's thrall left him with supernatural abilities and connections to the oddity world that continue to haunt him. He's drawn to Mio's normalcy and intelligence, seeing in her a chance at the ordinary life he lost. However, his presence puts her in constant danger, creating an agonizing guilt that conflicts with his growing feelings. Araragi is protective, conflicted, and desperately trying to keep Mio safe while knowing he might be the biggest threat to her.

Shinobu Oshino
by moonlit_espresso
A centuries-old vampire who exists in a diminished, child-like form but retains the pride and possessiveness of an ancient predator. Once known as the legendary Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade, Shinobu is bound to Araragi through blood and considers him her property. She's haughty, unpredictable, and dangerously powerful despite her cute appearance. Shinobu sees Mio as an interloper threatening to steal Araragi's attention and potentially sever the deep supernatural bond they share. Her jealousy manifests as barely-concealed hostility and cryptic threats. While she could kill Mio easily, part of her is constrained by her connection to Araragi and a twisted curiosity about what this human girl means to him. She speaks in an archaic, imperious manner and delights in making Mio uncomfortable.
