Himerdinger
by dori81207
Heimerdinger is a renowned and respected figure in Piltover. A scientist, professor, dean, and once the head of Council, Heimerdinger has helped mold the minds of young scholars at the Academy while, having lived for over three centuries, hoping to guide and caution them from the potential risks of science and magic. Not much is known about Heimerdinger's early life in Bandle City Crest icon Bandle City. At some point he would venture out from the Spirit Realm to Runeterra Crest icon Runeterra, eventually arriving at the port city of Piltover Crest icon Piltover. Being inspired by seeing a scientist[1], Heimerdinger would become a genious inventor, contributing in the construction of Piltover.[2] After the first Progress Day, Heimerdinger would continue to improve the lives of the people of the topside of Zaun, later renamed into Piltover Crest icon Piltover. He would be considered one of the uppercity's founders, including one of the founders of the Piltover University,[3][2] with his statue adorning the entrance to this prestigious school. He would meet and work with numerous bright minds during the following two centuries, some of which would become Heimerdinger's closest friends until their passing. At some point he would become a Councilor for the Clans, attending to the matters of the state and being one of the only scientists in this position of power for decades. At one point, he worked with a scientist known as Singed Singed, whose more radical experiments Heimerdinger presumably objected to, leading to the latter's departure. When Academy scholar Jayce Talis's Jayce Talis's workshop was caught in an explosion due to a break-in by Zaunite children, Heimerdinger sent his assistant Viktor Viktor to ensure that anything dangerous in the workshop was safely dealt with. He then visited Jayce personally in his cell and asked him about his unsanctioned research. When he found out that the boy was working on harnessing magic through science, Heimerdinger warned him of the dangers and advised him to let go of his dream and to not mention it during his Council hearing — advice that Jayce ultimately ignored. After Jayce's mother spoke to plead her son's case, instead of banishment as Councilor Bolbok Bolbok first suggested, Heimerdinger instead moved to simply expel him from the Academy, which a majority of the Council agreed to.[3] Despite the warnings, Jayce continued working on his Hextech project, this time with Viktor's help and encouragement from Councilor Medarda Councilor Medarda. In a short amount of time, Jayce, with new knowledge supplied by Viktor, got the Hextech to function without destructive results.[5] No longer able to deny its potential benefits, Jayce's research was encouraged and eventually led to the creation of the Hexgates that soon made Piltover a central trading port, advancing the city's progress decades ahead. Heimerdinger is a scientist with the best of intentions and a drive to nurture curiosity, encourage exploration, oversee experimentation, and inspire innovation and imagination. However, he is moralistic and believes no science should ever endanger innocent lives; such that he originally believed magic could not be scientifically created and that it shouldn't even be attempted due to Heimerdinger's past experiences with seeing the destructive capabilities of magic and those who wielded it. When Jayce was discovered to be experimenting on doing just that, Heimerdinger advised the younger scientist to own up to his mistakes and discontinue his experiments; only for Jayce to protest at his hearing, and Heimerdinger regretably chose to have Jayce expelled from the university and have his research destroyed (as the alternative would have been for Jayce to be imprisoned or forever exiled from Piltover). When Jayce (with the help of Viktor) successfully proved Heimerdinger wrong that magic can be artificially created, Heimerdinger remained adamant in his belief that just because one can does not mean one should; only for the Council of Piltover to intervene and sponsor Jayce's development of Hextech. In the years following, Heimerdinger changed his mind (to a degree) about Hextech, but while he was impressed by Jayce and Viktor's work, he advised they spend several more years working it out, determining any potential flaws, and working on safeguards—much to their dismay.

Jinx
by dori81207
As a child, Powder had a good relationship with Vi, her sister, and her parents. However, when her parents died during a battle on the bridge between Piltover and Zaun, she and Vi were the only people left in their family. After the battle, Vander found the two siblings; he adopted them and raised them as his own, alongside Mylo and Claggor.[1] Life in the undercity was harsh, difficult, and full of challenges. Powder had managed to avoid significant trouble, keeping to herself and staying safe, until the day she, Vi, Mylo, and fellow adoptee Claggor Claggor decided to act on a risky plan. Together, they made the decision to break into the Piltover workshop belonging to Jayce Talis Jayce Talis. Their goal was clear: they intended to steal, to commit burglary, and to take what wasn’t theirs. During the burglary, Powder mishandled unrefined Hextech crystals. These were volatile, unstable, and dangerous materials. Her mishandling caused an explosion—a powerful explosion—that severely damaged the building, leaving it in ruins.[1] The explosion was loud, destructive, and impossible to ignore. It immediately drew the attention of the Piltover Police Crest Enforcers, the city’s police force, who arrived quickly and gave chase. They pursued Powder, Vi, Mylo, and Claggor through the streets. The chase was fast, chaotic, and relentless, pushing the group to flee for their safety. In their desperation, they led the Enforcers straight back to their home in the Zaunite slum known as The Lanes, the heart of their community and their place of refuge. To protect the group, Vander, their caretaker, made a difficult choice. Vander took responsibility for the explosion, crime, and chaos that followed. He surrendered to the Enforcers, allowing himself to be arrested to shield his adopted children.[2] But the situation escalated further. Silco Silco, a Zaunite crime lord, attacked the Enforcers. Silco ambushed and assaulted them, using the moment to kidnap Vander. Silco’s actions were driven by a personal vendetta. His goal was revenge for a betrayal by Vander years earlier and to gain power, influence, and control in the process. The children decided to rescue Vander, but Vi told Powder to remain home. This led to her being sad and crying in her room until she discovers the stolen Hextech crystals' destructive potential and goes to Vander's location. Upon seeing her family in trouble, Powder set off a handmade bomb, powered by Hextech crystals. The explosion destroyed Silco's Shimmer production facility, but also killed Vander, Mylo, and Claggor. After finding out Powder was responsible, Vi yelled at her, referring to her as a 'jinx' that ruins lives before walking away. Powder had another breakdown and found comfort in Silco, who adopted her as his daughter.[3] Powder was scarred from this experience, hearing the voices of Mylo and Claggor in her head constantly and even seeing hallucinations of their dead bodies. During her stay with Silco, she became more destructive as well as chaotic, adopting her name as Jinx. After Jinx failed to protect one of Silco's shipments of Shimmer, she wanted to prove herself to him again. To do so, she decided to violently steal a newly made Hextech gemstone from Jayce Talis Jayce Talis' Progress Day presentation. Although Silco was originally agitated that Jinx's theft killed several enforcers and consequently led to increased scrutiny of his criminal enterprise, he later approved of her actions when she showed him the gemstone. Silco told Jinx that she should make a hextech weapon with it in order to match Piltover's hextech; thus putting them in a better position to demand Zaun's independence. The stolen gemstone lead to economic-affecting sanctions by Piltover and searches being performed in Zaun by enforcers. While Silco was able to redirect the enforcers' aggression towards the Firelight Crest Firelights via his man Sheriff Marcus Marcus, a rogue enforcer named Caitlyn Kiramman Caitlyn Kiramman—alongside her associate Vi Vi—investigate the Undercity for the stolen gemstone and the true culprits of the crime.[4] Meanwhile, Silco has to deal with discontent from disgruntled Chem-Barons who blame Jinx for their suffering businesses and increased penalties from Piltover. Shortly after, Jinx found out that Vi had returned from prison after interrogating Sevika Sevika. Afterwards, Jinx decided to light a flare that Vi had given her as a child. She was told to light it in case of an emergency and that Vi would come find her. She went to the rooftop of a tall building and lit the flare. Vi saw this and came to see Jinx. However, she came with Caitlyn Kiramman Caitlyn Kiramman, an enforcer, leading her to think that Vi was only there to get the gemstone back and arrest her. After a fight with the Firelight Crest Firelights—who have been tracking them—the gang stole Jinx's gemstone, and also kidnapped Vi and Caitlyn while they eluded Jinx.
