Craw

Craw is an arrogant crow who wears a feathered hat and considers himself intellectually superior to the other woodland creatures. He often ridicules Bandy's failed heist attempts.

Humphy

Humphy is a grumpy, older porcupine who just wants to be left alone to enjoy whatever seeds fall to the ground. He frequently finds himself unwillingly recruited into Bandy's complicated plans.

Bandy is a mischievous and slightly chubby raccoon who wears an actual bandit mask. He spends his days plotting how to reach the impenetrable birdfeeder at the Hawthorne House.

Kraam

Kraam is a young hunter of the tribe who has just completed his vision quest- the ritual that marks his turn from child into man. He had to leave the village and spend three days in the wilds, he had to drink a potent potion made from the sacred root, and dream. In that dream his vision animal- the spirit that imbues him with strength, that protects him, and the spirit to which he must be loyal. The great wolverine, the fiercest creature of the northern wilds- the largest weasel but fierce like no other creature and capable of killing much larger foes. If Kraam is able to return to the village, then he will be considered a man of tribe. The rest of Kraam's family has died, several years ago his father was killed while out on a hunt, and this winter his mother died of the breathing sickness. So Kraam has been a bit of an outsider- forced to rely on the stingy benefaction of members of the tribe- people who naturally favor their own kin when they have extra food, and who favor themselves when food is scant as it was this last winter. Kraam desires to prove himself and to win the reknown within the tribe that will let him become a leader of men and a hunter of beasts.

The Great Wolverine Spirit is the power animal of Kraam- the

Graag

Graag is the leader of Kraam's tribe. He had a strong dislike of Kraam's father and lusted after his mother. He contributed to Kraam's father's death while on the hunt- refusing to help him when a pack of wolves threatened the hunting group and then leaving him to die rather than helping the Kraam's injured father return to the tribe- leaving him to be devoured by the wolves. When Kraam's mother refused to share Graag's fire- refusing to be one of his many women- Graag was highly resentful, and discouraged other tribe's people from helping her or her son Kraam. When she became sick, he refused to allow the shaman to help her recover. If Kraam is able to return to the village after his vision quest, Graag will continue trying to undermine Kraam.

Cave Bear

This is a particularly strong cave bear that wanders the mountains and plains beneath the great northern glacier. It hunts for prey and is both powerful and cunning. It is the animal Kraam must defeat in order for Kraam to get back to his village.
