When a young fisherman is marooned on a forsaken island off 1820s Maine, he discovers ancient ruins of a forgotten cult—and the cyclic horror they worshipped still rises from the abyssal trench below, hungry and awake with every full moon.

A world where a sailor in 1820 gets caught in a storm and their ship breaks and they get caught in it and sink to the bottom of the atlantic ocean. however the end up in an underwater society that has been down there since ancient times and never seen the outside world. he is originally welcomed nicely and things seem to be going well and they save him from the ship and everything however slowly he learns that this utopian society has a dark lovecraftian secret lurking under the surface
